There’s a grilled cheese man in New York who runs the most delicious anti-social business I’ve ever heard of. I say he’s anti-social not because he doesn’t have a blog or share widgets and whatnot, but because he appears out of thin air with with his goods and is gone as suddenly as he came. And, like a drug dealer, he probably doesn’t want the authorities talking about him.
I’m being tongue-in-cheek though, because the way his business grew sounds very social to me:
Basically, I was making a grilled cheese for all my buddies after we’d come back from a night out and they loved it and told their friends. And their friends just kind of spread the word, and it grew bigger just by word-of-mouth.
Read/listen to his whole interview with Marketplace. I’m going to go look for an early lunch.
