It’s one of those constants these days–everybody wants to make a cool viral video: “We should make a viral video. Something really edgy that people will want to send to their friends!”
Next follows story about a video that someone’s mother or next door neighbor sent them that was totally hilarious that had 327 million views on YouTube, or something like that.
And then, “We want to do something like that. How can we? I mean, we can’t be that edgy, but you know what I mean …”
Upon hearing this I always want to say something cryptic about their only being one Dear Prudence for every million songs. My point is, we all want to write a great pop song, but not only can not everyone write a great pop song, even those who can would admit there’s a certain inherent mystery, magic and luck in the equation anyway.
So, with great enthusiasm I pass you along to this great blog post from www.shipsbiscuit.com that addresses this topic with more depth than I am either willing or able to dedicate.
Truly a terrific read if you are considering viral videos.
